An exciting leadership opportunity has arisen for an experienced Private Client Solicitor to take on the role of Head of Private Client within a well-established Legal 500 firm in Norwich. This senior position offers the chance to lead and grow a successful department, delivering exceptional client service and driving strategic development, with clear progression potential to partnership.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing all aspects of the Private Client department

  • Handling a varied caseload, including wills, probate, trusts, powers of attorney, and deputyship matters

  • Setting and achieving departmental targets aligned with overall business objectives

  • Supervising fee-earning work and supporting the training and development of junior team members

  • Managing departmental support services and ensuring compliance with policies and standards, including Lexcel

  • Driving business development to grow the client base and increase departmental revenue

  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships through excellent communication and service

  • Overseeing financial controls, including billing and cash flow management for the team

  • Collaborating with other departments to maximise cross-referral opportunities

  • Ensuring compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules, SRA Code of Conduct, and Money Laundering Regulations

The ideal candidate will be:

  • A qualified solicitor with 9+ years' PQE in Private Client law

  • Experienced across key areas including wills, probate, trusts, powers of attorney, and deputyship

  • A confident leader and team manager with proven ability to motivate and develop staff

  • Strategically minded with a track record of delivering departmental growth

  • Skilled in business development, with an existing network and a proactive approach to marketing

  • An excellent communicator who builds strong client and internal relationships

  • Innovative and solutions-oriented, able to manage change effectively

  • Committed to professional standards and regulatory compliance
