Locum Information Governance Officer

A respected public sector organisation based in the North West is seeking an experienced Locum Information Governance Officer to provide critical support across a range of information governance and data protection functions. This role can be worked on a remote basis and is initially for 3 to 6 months, with strong potential for extension.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Information Governance & Compliance Frameworks: Review, update and maintain the organisation's IG and compliance frameworks to ensure ongoing alignment with statutory and regulatory obligations.
  • Policy Development & Review: Lead the review of key IG policies in preparation for Data Use and Access Agreement (DUAA) 2025 changes, ensuring they reflect current and upcoming standards.
  • FOI & SAR Support: Provide expert guidance and support in responding to Freedom of Information (FOI) and Subject Access Requests (SARs) in line with legal and regulatory timeframes.
  • Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs): Advise and support departments across the organisation in carrying out DPIAs, ensuring appropriate risk mitigation and compliance with data protection principles.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar Information Governance role, ideally within the public sector
    Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation, including UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, and Freedom of Information Act 2000
    Excellent understanding of information governance best practices and regulatory standards
