Sellick Partnership is pleased to be supporting a leading UK facilities management and engineering services business in their search for a Senior Employment Legal Counsel to join their established in-house legal team on a permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity to provide strategic and operational employment law support across a diverse, multi-site organisation, reporting directly to the General Counsel & Ethics Officer (UK & Ireland). The successful candidate will handle a broad mix of contentious, non-contentious, and transactional employment matters, working in close partnership with HR and senior stakeholders.

As Senior Employment Legal Counsel, your role will include, but is not limited to:

  • Conducting and managing Employment Tribunal claims and associated legal costs, working closely with the business to resolve cases effectively.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to HR on a wide range of issues, including contractual queries, redundancies, restructures, disciplinary and grievance matters, discrimination, and equal opportunities.
  • Advising on TUPE compliance, including drafting and negotiating contractual TUPE provisions.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating employment-related documentation, such as contracts, settlement agreements, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitoring and interpreting changes in UK employment legislation and case law to ensure compliance.
  • Delivering training to HR and the wider business on key employment law topics.
  • Supporting internal investigations, employee relations issues, and cross-functional initiatives with Data Privacy and the wider legal team.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a UK-qualified solicitor or barrister (or common law equivalent) with ideally 5+ years' PQE in contentious and non-contentious employment law (flexibility depending on experience).
  • Bring experience from a respected law firm or in-house team; exposure to trade unions, facilities management, building services, or engineering sectors is advantageous.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships at all levels.
  • Be comfortable managing a busy workload in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

Benefits:

  • Car allowance of £5,000
  • Hybrid working with flexibility on office location
  • Generous benefits package including pension, bonus and additional perks

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced employment lawyer to join a friendly, collaborative legal team and play a key role in supporting a complex, multi-site UK business.
