Sellick Partnership are working closely with a local authority in the North West seeking an experienced Conveyancing Officer to join their Legal Services team on a temporary basis.

This is an excellent opportunity to take on a varied and complex caseload of conveyancing and land-related matters within a supportive and well-established local government environment. The role offers remote working and will be initially offered on a 3-month contract, with a strong likelihood of extension.

The successful candidate will handle a range of commercial conveyancing work, including property acquisitions, disposals, leases, licences, and compulsory purchase orders. You will also provide professional advice and guidance on land ownership issues and support major development and regeneration projects across the borough.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out conveyancing and land-related transactions on behalf of the Council, including purchases, sales, leases, and licences
  • Undertake compulsory purchase and similar statutory processes
  • Support the Council's Capital and Land Programme, meeting conveyancing targets
  • Provide advice and assistance to officers regarding land ownership and property issues
  • Prepare and process legal documentation relating to property and land matters
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with Council policies and legal standards

Requirements:

  • Fellow or Graduate Member of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx), Licensed Conveyancer, or Law Degree (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in commercial conveyancing
  • Ability to manage a busy and complex caseload with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with a professional and client-focused approach
  • Previous local authority experience is desirable but not essential
