Sellick Partnership are recruiting for an experienced Head of Finance to join a leading Charity organisation during a period of significant financial transformation.

This is a key leadership role, reporting into the Finance Director, and is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated, qualified accountant to lead a large finance team and deliver robust financial control, technical leadership and operational improvement across all areas of finance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be accountable for the production of audited statutory financial statements and the completion of the external audit
  • Take overall responsibility for producing accurate and timely management accounts
  • Oversee the charity's cash flow forecasting and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Ensure robust financial processes and controls are in place across transactional teams (AP, AR, Treasury, etc.)
  • Lead the preparation and submission of VAT and Gift Aid returns, and manage treasury operations
  • Act as key point of contact for auditors, bankers and investment managers
  • Oversee compliance with financial, tax and regulatory requirements
  • Provide expert technical accounting advice to senior leadership
  • Act as financial lead for internal controls and fraud prevention
  • Serve as secretary to the Finance Committee and Investment Advisory Group
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, processes and customer experience
  • Manage and develop a team of approximately 50, with 4 direct reports, embedding a culture of high performance and accountability
  • Champion inclusive leadership and embody the charity's values in all aspects of work

Key Skills and Experience

  • Fully qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA or equivalent)
  • Extensive experience in financial leadership roles with broad technical finance knowledge
  • Strong track record in managing finance functions across financial reporting, management accounting, and cash flow
  • Experience of leading finance teams through periods of change or transformation
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Charity or public sector reporting experience is desirable but not essential
  • A collaborative, values-led approach to leadership and team development
