Sellick Partnership is excited to be working with a Legal 500 ranked firm in Manchester who are looking for a Non-Contentious Construction Legal Director to join their team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and manage complex non-contentious construction matters, including procurement strategy, contract structuring, and project delivery.
  • Provide strategic legal advice on construction law, risk allocation, contract negotiation, and project governance.

  • Draft, negotiate, and review a wide range of construction documents, including building contracts (e.g. JCT, NEC), consultant appointments, collateral warranties, and related project agreements.

  • Advise clients throughout the lifecycle of major construction and infrastructure projects, from pre-contract planning to completion.

  • Maintain and develop strong client relationships by delivering commercially focused, high-quality legal support.

  • Supervise and mentor junior team members, offering guidance on legal matters and career development.

  • Support the firm's growth through business development activities, including identifying new opportunities, contributing to pitches, and raising the firm's profile in the construction sector.

The successful candidate:

  • Significant experience in construction law, including handling complex projects, contracts, and disputes.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage large projects, and mentor junior lawyers.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships, providing strategic legal advice and support.
  • Track record of identifying new business opportunities and growing client networks.
  • Deep understanding of construction contracts, procurement processes, and industry-specific regulations.
  • Ability to offer practical and commercially sound legal advice that aligns with clients' business objectives.
  • Strong ability to work in collaboration with colleagues across various practice areas and locations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
