We are currently working with a well regarded, Legal 500 ranked firm in Reading that is looking for a talented Commercial Solicitor to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and experienced Commercial law professional to join an expanding and supportive team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Advise on a wide range of commercial agreements, including supply, service, and licensing contracts

  • Handle intellectual property matters such as brand protection, IP ownership, and licensing

  • Provide guidance on data protection, privacy policies, and regulatory compliance

  • Work independently on most matters, with support available for complex or unfamiliar issues

  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Business Services Team on marketing and client development

  • Engage in knowledge sharing and mentor junior team members when needed

  • Build tailored advice to suit clients across sectors including tech, automotive, and start-ups

  • Adapt communication and solutions to suit each client's size, structure, and goals

  • Deliver practical, business-minded advice rather than purely legal theory

  • Balance legal risk with commercial realities to find workable solutions

  • Get involved in growing the firm's profile through business development activities

  • Participate in webinars, events, and content creation (e.g., articles or LinkedIn posts)

  • Build strong client and professional networks through regular contact and relationship management

  • Actively contribute to team growth and help shape future opportunities, including potential for partnership

The successful candidate:

  • Minimum of 4 years' PQE (or equivalent high-quality experience) in commercial law

  • Strong background in advising on commercial contracts, intellectual property, and data protection

  • Able to manage matters autonomously while collaborating effectively within a team

  • Experience working with clients across diverse sectors, especially technology and automotive

  • Skilled at adapting communication and advice for businesses of all sizes

  • Commercially minded with a focus on practical, real-world solutions

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong client relationships

  • Interest in mentoring junior team members and contributing to team development

  • Enthusiasm for business development, including networking, client engagement, and thought leadership

  • Ambitious and self-motivated, with a desire to progress toward partnership in the near future
