Reporting to the Director of Finance, the successful applicant will play a key role in shaping the future of the finance team, with opportunities to progess.

As the healthcare landscape evolves, the sector continues to face many challenges, which provides an increasing portfolio of exciting opportunities and demand for the diverse range of services our successful client offers.

Job Summary:

  • Responsible for all financial services and statutory accounting up to trial balance
  • Responsible for leading and delivering the core finance functions of financial accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets and treasury management
  • Ensure the delivery of an efficient and effective service
  • Lead the organisation on all technical aspects of accounting
  • Provide strategic leadership and professional management combined with operational responsibility for financial services and accounting services

Key responsibilities - Head of Financial Services:

  • Producing accurate and timely monthly financial reports to the Board, Corporate Executives, and Change Management Programme Board
  • Deliver the planned financial position each year
  • Responsible for the budget for financial services and accounting functions
  • Achieve financial balance and/or surplus within financial services and accounting functions
  • Ensure robust systems of governance
  • Lead and sponsor financial and capital planning and performance projects to develop new ways of working in line with the strategies and business plans
  • Lead on cash management
  • Ensuring the correct treatment of VAT
  • Lead on planning and delivering of the statutory accounts up to trial balance
  • Presenting quarterly financial reporting


Person Specification - Head of Financial Services:

  • Fully qualified finance professional
  • Experience of working at a senior level in a medium to large, complex organisation
  • Experience in building, leading, motivating, managing and developing teams
  • A critical thinker, with the ability to challenge the status quo in order to make improvements
