Sellick Partnership are proud to be recruiting for a Legal Services Manager to join a friendly and well-respected local authority in Devon on a permanent basis.

The Legal Services Manager will also act as planning lawyer for the authority, alongside managing the legal team in conjunction with the District Solicitor. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Supervision and day to day management of the legal team
  • Providing case management support on complex cases
  • Assisting the monitoring officer with member related issues
  • Attending meetings of Committees, sub-Committees and other meetings as required, including where appropriate in connection with disciplinary and grievance matters
  • Prepare and present training to members and officers
  • Negotiating agreements and contracts on behalf of the authority and contribute to the resolution of other strategic issues working with members and officers at all levels
  • Providing training and development support to members of the legal section

This is a fantastic opportunity for a candidate with either previous management experience looking to develop their skills further within a small and friendly local authority, or those looking for the next step up in their career. Full support will be provided to candidates with are no previous management experience however it is essential all applicants will have some previous planning law experience.

While experience of working within the public sector is desirable, candidates from other backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

This is a hybrid working role with office attendance required 1 - 2 days per week.
