About the Senior Lawyer role:

Sellick Partnership are recruiting for a Senior Lawyer to join an excellent Local Authority in Merseyside, to work in their Regeneration, Planning and Property team, focusing on planning matters. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced solicitor, barrister or chartered legal executive to join a busy but friendly in-house legal team.

Key requirements of the role include:

As Senior Lawyer you will have extensive experience in dealing with a wide range of planning law matters. This is includes being responsible for your own caseload, as well as providing robust legal advice on matters which will include (but not limited to):

  • Drafting, negotiating and providing advice in relation of s.106 agreements
  • Representing the Council at planning committee
  • Certificates of Lawfulness

Key attributes of the Senior Lawyer include:

The ideal Senior Lawyer candidate will be proactive and self-motivated, having excellent technical skills and a good level of experience in dealing with planning law matters.

You will also have great communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to deliver complex advice clearly and be able to communicate effectively with people internally, and externally.

Local government legal work is varied and whilst at times it can be challenging, it is also very rewarding. There will be times when you need to work under pressure and balance conflicting priorities, however, you will be supported in doing this. You will also be supported to demonstrate a commitment to your own professional development and a willingness to undertake training and develop new skills as required.
